2022 Hot Dog Ambassadors

Thea Lux Los Angeles, California

Thea is an artist who creates and sells miniature food art on Etsy. Her Hot Dog pins were used at an Oscar Meyer-themed wedding and were featured on Buzzfeed Food. It was her love of Hot Dogs that led to her creating and selling tiny food art. In her words, “What is even better than a hot dog? A TINY HOT DOG!” (Read more)


William Fankell Hermosa Beach, California

Since moving from Detroit to California, William has worked tirelessly to introduce Detroit hot dog culture to SoCal. He hosted a hot dog themed event that raised over $20,000 for a nonprofit. William also has a goal of opening a hot dog themed restaurant in California that will also operate as a nonprofit to take action against hunger. (Read more)


Dave Liske Luna Pier, Michigan

Dave, a food historian and author, spent 12 years researching the history of the Flint Coney Dog. In April 2022, he published this research in his book “The Flint Coney: A Savory History.” He previously owned and operated a Flint Coney stand on Lake Erie, and now spends his time with his wife, a travel nurse, serving up Flint Coney Dogs to nurses and healthcare workers. The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council is inviting American hot dog lovers, connoisseurs, and aficionados to compete for the coveted title of Hot Dog Ambassador. This year, get out your camera, round up some redhots, gather up some glizzys, find some franks, and dig out some dogs! We want to see who from our social media followers has what it takes to be a part of this illustrious group.

Ambassadors will receive:

  • A lifetime appointment as “Hot Dog Ambassador”
  • A Brand Ambassador Certificate
  • $100 Gift Card
  • A Wiener Warrior T-shirt
  • Additional Hot Dog SWAG items (cups, koozies, wristbands)

Entry Requirements

  • The contest is open to individuals. Corporate entities are ineligible. Past winners are not eligible to win again.
  • Individual must have a valid, active Facebook or Instagram account and meet minimum age requirements (13 years old).
  • Participants must submit one (1) post – photo(s) or video (max length 60 seconds) of themselves featuring a hot dog (i.e. eating, cooking, holding a hot dog, wearing a hot dog costume, etc. The more creative, the better!), on Facebook or Instagram. The post should include three (3) reasons why you think you should be chosen as a Hot Dog Ambassador. Limit one (1) entry per person.
  • Entries should be appropriate for all ages. Any entries deemed vulgar, profane, or inappropriate by NHDSC staff will be immediately disqualified.
  • Participants MUST follow the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council accounts on Facebook or Instagram
  • Participants MUST tag the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council in the post (Use the official Instagram handle: @hotdogcouncil or Facebook page: National Hot Dog and Sausage Council) and use the hashtag #HotDogAmbassador2022.
  • Entries must meet ALL of the criteria listed above. Any that do not will not be disqualified.
  • Entries must be submitted between July 1-15, 2022. Submissions are due by July 15, 2022 at 11:59pm EST.
  • Three (3) winners will be selected and will be announced on National Hot Dog Day (July 20, 2022). Winners will receive a $100 gift card (for their favorite hot dogs!)
