National Hot Dog and Sausage Council Announces Hot Dog Bumper Sticker Contest
Washington, D.C. June 30, 2015—Independence Day weekend is more than just fireworks to celebrate America’s birthday, it’s also the weekend of the hot dog and official kick off of July as National Hot Dog Month. Americans are expected to eat more than 150 million hot dogs over the holiday weekend, more than any other time of the year and enough to stretch from Washington D.C. to Los Angeles more than five times.
“There’s no better way to celebrate America’s birthday than with the all-American hot dog,” said Janet Riley, National Hot Dog and Sausage Council president and ‘Queen of Wien.’ “No matter how you top it, the hot dog is the food that everyone craves to make the Independence Day weekend complete.”
As part of its celebration of Independence Day and National Hot Dog Month, the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC) is offering hot dog fans a chance to win their favorite hot dogs and other prizes with a hot dog bumper sticker slogan contest. Hot dog lovers can send up to three clever bumper sticker slogan ideas to email@example.com by July 10. The best ones will be featured as finalists on the NHDSC Facebook page where fans will choose their favorite. The winner will be announced on National Hot Dog Day, July 22.
“Hot dogs aren’t just great for backyard barbecues, they’re also great road trip food, so we decided to combine these two American pastimes,” said Riley. “With the bumper sticker, people can share their hot dog love wherever they go.”
The person who submits the best bumper sticker slogan will win a $100 gift card for their favorite hot dogs plus a Curl-A-Dog spiral hot dog slicer. Second place wins a $50 gift card for their favorite hot dogs. The top three choices will all win NHDSC t-shirts and a bumper sticker with the winning slogan. Full contest guidelines and rules are available at www.hot-dog.org/media/contests.
The NHDSC also has a variety of resources on hot dogs for everyone celebrating National Hot Dog Month including full details on how hot dogs are made, a hot dog etiquette guide, hot dog history, trivia and more on its website www.hot-dog.org.
