March 13, 2012 – An outrageous, inflammatory billboard from the pseudo-medical animal rights group the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is another effort to advance the group’s goal: a vegan society.

"Hot dogs are a great Chicago tradition and part of a healthy, balanced diet. They come in a variety of nutrition and taste formulas and they are an excellent source of protein, vitamins and minerals," said National Hot Dog & Sausage Council President Janet M. Riley. "This group's claims are an effort to seek attention for their animal rights cause.”

Washington, D.C.– The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council today declared an act of violence against Tiger Woods that involved a hot dog ‘reprehensible.’

“The use of an iconic food in an act of violence against an iconic golfer like Tiger Woods is reprehensible -- and a violation of hot dog etiquette. Some might call the thrower a ‘wiener,’ but we’d say that’s too high a compliment,” said Council President Janet Riley . Hot dogs are meant to be enjoyed – not weaponized.”

Sausage Reigns Supreme in New Poll

Washington, D.C., October 3, 2011 — Americans and sausage remain inherently “linked”according to a new poll commissioned by the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council and conducted online by Harris Interactive from August 16 – 18, 2011 among 2,112 U.S. adults on the eve of National Sausage Month in October.

More than four in five U.S. adults (82 percent) eat sausage, according to the poll. This includes 87 percent of men and 77 percent of women.

Washington, D.C. — As National Hot Dog Month kicks off today, The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council is proud to announce the winners and runner-ups in its first-ever hot dog photo competition. Approximately 1,000 votes were cast in three categories – people, places and hot dog art.

The results were announced just as the Fourth of July weekend was about to begin – a weekend when Americans will eat an estimated 150 million hot dogs. That’s just part of the seven billion hot dogs that American eat between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

“The hot dog is ready for its close-up and we need America to help us give it the attention it deserves,” said Council President and ‘Queen of Wien’ Janet M. Riley. “All you need is a camera and a love of hot dogs to participate and you might just be rewarded with the ultimate summer barbecue!”
